Experience

From network monitoring to OSS assurance.

My career developed inside operational teams: first-line monitoring, second-line analysis, coordination, RAN operations and now OSS assurance. The detail below shows how my responsibility changed at each stage.

Jul 2025 — Present

Vodafone · Full-time

OSS Assurance Expert

I joined the operation as it was being brought in-house. This involved learning how the platforms were configured, documenting the knowledge needed by the team and helping define the support processes. Today, I investigate issues across Netcool, Infovista, FNT, Cramer and Checkmk, their databases and more than 50 VMs.

  • I investigate problems across the application, database and VM layers and develop permanent fixes for recurring faults where possible.
  • I maintain and troubleshoot more than 50 VMware vSphere VMs across primary, secondary and test environments.
  • I configure new rules and implement application changes and improvements across the assurance platforms.
  • I built role-specific Netcool pre-check scripts and an Oracle database-session recovery script with standard and emergency modes, alongside Ansible automation for recurring work.
Jan 2023 — Jun 2025

Vodafone · Atlantic NOC · Vodafone Spain

Radio Access Network Operations Expert

From Vodafone’s Atlantic NOC in Portugal, I supported Vodafone Spain’s 2G–5G RAN and developed automation that reduced manual work and network energy use.

  • I designed, developed and implemented a Python and ISSTAR automation that reduced network energy use and delivered more than €250,000 in annual savings.
  • I planned and executed the production change requests (CRQs) and coordinated the team resources needed for the rollout.
  • I reviewed outdated procedures and worked on network changes from analysis through implementation.
Mar 2013 — Dec 2022

Vodafone · Atlantic NOC · Vodafone UK

Second-line Telecommunications Operations

From Vodafone’s Atlantic NOC in Portugal, I provided second-line support for Vodafone UK’s 2G–5G network and built tools for ticket assignment, RAN planning and node migration.

  • I built a Python workflow for our team that read staff availability from Excel, assigned BMC Remedy tickets, emailed high-priority alerts and recorded ticket metrics. An equivalent external implementation had been estimated at €70,000.
  • I built a PHP, Python and Huawei HSL portal that combined Vodafone UK RAN data used by our team to prepare network projects.
  • I automated network-node migration between controllers.
Nov 2012 — Mar 2013

Nokia Siemens Networks · Three Ireland

Fault Manager

On the Three Ireland project, I led the transition of fault-management operations to the Portugal GNOC and prepared the first- and second-line teams to take over the service.

  • I analysed operational processes at the client site and converted them into procedures for the Portugal GNOC.
  • I planned and delivered training and structured the first- and second-line support teams.
  • I led both teams after implementation, maintaining operational continuity and alignment with the client.
Jul 2012 — Nov 2012

Nokia Siemens Networks · Orange UK

Analysis Team Coordinator

On the Orange UK project, I coordinated the second-line analysis team, set technical priorities and helped drive complex incidents to resolution.

  • I coordinated the team's work and prioritised complex incident analysis, equipment reconfiguration and advanced technical support.
  • I acted as the interface between second-line analysis, first-line support, project managers and the client.
  • I contributed to technical and process improvements identified during incident resolution.
Mar 2010 — Jul 2012

Nokia Siemens Networks · Orange UK

Telecommunications Technician

On the Orange UK project, I combined mobile-network support with the tools, procedures and training needed to establish and improve GNOC operations in Portugal.

  • I designed and implemented operating procedures, prepared workspaces and training, tested applications and wrote user manuals.
  • I supported business-continuity planning and testing and developed a web tool that centralised information and automated processes across three GNOC projects.
  • I built scripts for alarm collection, reporting and support tasks while providing technical support across Nokia and Huawei 2G/3G environments and Huawei LTE.
2009 — 2010

NBS — New Boston Select

Network Operations Support

At NBS, I provided first-line support for Orange Spain’s 2G/3G network. I then took part in the knowledge transfer that moved Orange UK operations to the Portugal GNOC.

  • I monitored Orange Spain alarms, opened or escalated incidents and supported field technicians working on the network.
  • I gathered first- and second-line procedures during the Orange UK knowledge transfer and adapted them for the Portugal GNOC.
